Our 2022 winner

Natasha B.

Presenting Natasha B. 2022 winner of the Given2fly award❤️❤️❤️

We are pleased to announce the 2022 winner of the Given2fly scholarship, Natasha B!

Natasha is a truly special person and a strong survivor who has achieved amazing accomplishments.  As a child she was a victim of sexual abuse by family members and friends of the family.  She believed at the time that this was normal and dated men who hurt her. Early on in her life she discovered that she had a special talent, singing.  By the time she was 14 she had performed at Carnegie Hall and at the Vatican.

By the time she turned 18 she knew she wanted to study music as a career in New York City but was kicked out of her house and ended up homeless. It was then that she fell victim to another opera singer who initially helped her out of homelessness only to later start abusing her. The abuse became unbearable and Natasha started to fear for her life. Although her abuser took most everything she owned, she was able to escape and start over.

Although she has suffered from PTSD flashbacks and still lives in fear, this unstoppable survivor has not let anything or anyone hold her back.  She has finished her first year of a doctorate in opera and also started on a journey in Spring 2022 as a pre-med student in osteopathy taking chemistry courses.

Starting in 2018 she founded her own music school and gives lessons on how to read music for free. Her wish with the Given2fly scholarship is to complete her education in both music and medicine while continuing to help others.

We are so impressed by Natasha and in addition to a $1,000 scholarship we also will be mentoring her for six months to help her achieve her goals and dreams. Thank you to all our supporters who are helping to change lives one at a time!!
